Materialisation seeks to make visible the transformation of rubber from the rubber tree (hevea) seed to the tyre – exposing a process usually forgotten or unknown. Each piece has an educational power and helps support my statements on the rubber industry. Wearability helps bring the body closer to what might otherwise seem like cold information and criticality. I am trying to reach the wearer’s emotions and sensations as they experiment, physically, with each step of the material’s exploitation, as rendered in my work.
